What led you to pursue this path?
I am so intimidated by public sharing in the web space though, as I do change, science change and most importantly society change! However, I got to work with many people and in many settings prior to the internet revolution, I grow through giving and sharing. I started public health education as early as 14 years of age. My experiences and stories mattered to many, and I realized that we do not need to have a constant to lean on for a lively experience. I left my infinite self-critique behind and consulted with youthful generations on a name, a dear medical student of mine voted for the name of my website (DrEmpath), which is a testimonial I will forever cherish. Taking care of patients across the globe solidified the need to provide an open space where I simply share my experiences to enrich others’ life experiences with educated empathy and growing compassion.
What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced so far?
My own intrinsic fears of public sharing and the tax attached to it, are my biggest challenge. Finding sustainable authentic ways to reach out to communities in need for health literacy and wellness education in the intricate web.
How has your business changed over time?
My platform is not a business in essence, at least not a mundane or materialistic one. It is a newborn, so it will change a LOT going through milestones of content creation, outreach, evolution, and most importantly collaboration.
What are your goals for the future?
1. Reach out to Arabic speaking communities in the United States with my SEHHA podcast to improve their healthcare experience.
2. Collaborate with those who are genuinely consistent about endorsing healthy changes in our communities.
3. To be the voice for those who are yet to articulate their experiences and journeys from trauma to healing.
4. Leverage research done by the communities to a global health not only humans.
5. Maybe a telehealth clinic for women on the long run.
Why do you think your products or services are a good fit for your target market?:
The open access with no major logistical obstacles is great for people, podcasts and audiovisual content caters to our challenged short span as digital humans. I am committed to short articles that have big ideas and are meant to provoke thinking rather than dictate thoughts.
Most crucially, I am my target audience! I work hard to implement what I learn, consistently check my interpretation of science and people’s perceptions of today’s world. If I can change me through my work, mission shall be accomplished 🙂
What do you think sets your company apart from the competition?
I am not sure, since I am not actually competing with like-minded people or platforms. If anything, I would leverage their presence for the sake of healthy changes. I compete with good for good not against or apart from it!
What do you believe is the most important thing for businesses to focus on when it comes to marketing?
Authenticity and empowerment. I appreciated those who treat my mind with respect and gave me credit for what I aspire to be.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own businesses?
Do things at your own pace, consult with experts who know you, and do not lose track of your purpose.
Has religion played a role in starting your business or pursuing your path?:
Yes, I am a Muslim woman; nothing defines “me and my why” more than these two words. Whatever I do caters to my faithful feminine identity and is fueled by it. I am accountable for the global health by simply living healthy and reminding people of their valuable contribution to a healthy planet.
